Wake App Reviews

Works as advertised

What can I say? It wakes up my computers. Of course, you need to actually KNOW how Wake on Lan works and configure your computer/app properly for it to work. Also, if you intend on making Wake on Lan work over cellular, make sure you configure your router properly for it. I cant stress enough that you need to understand technology to be able to use it.

Be wary

Downloaded the app, set it up. Doesnt work. Went to the website for troubleshooting support, only then did I discover that in order to get this app to work properly I have to do a substantial change to my home network setup that wasnt mentioned in the apps description above. I *could* do it, yes, and then the app would probably work, but it would be a major pain and it would have been nice to have been told what my system required *before* I bought the app. Congratulations on getting my dollar.

Great App

Easy to setup and works great.

Great App

Looking for a simple, straight forward way to wake a PC over my LAN. This app works exactly as advertised. However, more important to me is the support from the developer. I had questions about setting up the app to work while away from home over 3G ... The developer helped every step of the way. Dave ... Youre one of the good ones! Keep up the great work and thank you!

Good App, responsive Developer

This 99 cent app is very worthwhile, especially when coupled with Teamviewer or a similar remote access program, allowing full control of a pc via an iPhone or iPad when traveling. The app absolutely works, although many users may, like me, have to muddle through establishing Wake on Lan (WoL) on their network interface card and their router and BIOS. Once these things are all set and the PC has a static IP address within the LAN, the app works very well. I can now turn my PC off when I go on a trip, turn it on with my iPhone and/or iPad, access files and peripherals, i.e. external HDD, and then shut it down when I am finished. For a non-technical person like me, this is a big step! Equipment includes a Linksys E3000 router, PC running Windows 7 64-bit and iPhone & iPad.

Doesnt work

Didnt work for me. If it costs $ and says automatically connects it should do that. Also what is the use of having something for the iPad that doesnt connect via wifi? Did I miss something?

Cant get it to work.

Spent way too much time trying to get this to work. Help website wont open. Free mWOL worked, and took two sec to set up. Another buck wasted on a crap app.

Mmm...

Somehow this does not work.

This One Works

This is the best Wake On LAN app. It has always been the one I fall back on.

Dr

I consider my self expert, when it comes to this app you dont want any experience because you dont even know what is this app is all about, it didnt work! Just waste of money and time!!!n

The worst app I bought so far

This app doesnt do the job and i regretted that I brought this app. I strongly request the author to refund me.

Does not work over internet!!!

This program does not work over the Internet. Other free apps do. Dont buy!!

Does not work as advertised

I understand now that this does not work unless the machine is connected by ethernet, but that was unclear in the way this app was marketed. Very disappointing and a waste of money. Not what I needed.

Works flawlessly

Simple and always works. Never had an issue with this app. Plenty of struggles getting WOW (WOL over Internet) to work. Finally loaded wwdrt firmware on my router to enable remote wake up. Before wwdrt I could not get any WOL to work over the Internet. Apparently most home routers block this ability which really makes no sense with the big push to be energy star compliant

Works as advertised

This is a very simple app, however it does exactly what it is supposed to do, and it does it quite reliably. I use this to wake-up my HTPC in my entertainment center and It has not let me down yet!!

Not recommended

How does it work (as advertised) over WiFi or Cellular network? I could only get it to Wake my PC when both my iPad and my PC were on the same local network and my PC was hooked up via an Ethernet cable. Its no different than the free apps (except for the price).

Good App

Does exactly what i needed

Gets the job done

Nice!

Minimally Perfect

This app was exactly what I was looking for. It is simple, the computer autodetect works well, and it wakes my computers from being off. I have no problem rewarding the dev for his work. FYI, it will turn on PCs, not Macs. Macs can only be woken from sleep. Blame Apple.

Not for most users

This application is far to minimal to function in the kind of network iOs users operate in. It really only works with static, numerical IP addresses or local DNS severs. It DOES work well for those, but few Apple devices and networks are configurable that way. Its completely useless for most unsuspecting buyers! The developer needs to move into the 21st century and learn about Bonjour and Apples sleep proxies and then rewrite the application from the ground up. I regret buying it and feel mislead by the product description, especially because I have other App Store products that do implement this function and it works properly. DO NOT BUY THIS!
